Still not running right. Need help.
Ok I went out and grabbed another TPS from the junkyard. Set it between .88 and 1 OHM, it's more like between .88-90 ohms. I got the right plug for the "jumper" on the yellow wire coming off the distributor. Still runs the same. It idles great. But as soon as I try to give it any gas it pops and backfires extremely loudly. I tried adjusting the timing but that didn't do anything either so I put it back where it was. This motor ran fine two years ago, what could I be missing? Anyone know their firing order just so I can verify I have mine right?

If you set it between .88 and 1.0 OHMs then you have a problem. It is supposed to be .98 VOLTS.
ohm=
the SI unit of electrical resistance, defined to be the electrical resistance between two points of a conductor when a constant potential difference applied between these points produces in this conductor a current of one ampere. The resistance in ohms is numerically equal to the magnitude of the potential difference. Symbol: Ω
volt=
the SI unit of potential difference and electromotive force, formally defined to be the difference of electric potential between two points of a conductor carrying a constant current of one ampere, when the power dissipated between these points is equal to one watt. Abbreviation: V

Oh I just read on here when I did a search that it had to be between .88-1, preferably closer to .97-.99. Could that be why it's still backfiring and hesitating on accel?

any where in that area the car will run ok ... how's the fuel pressure?
If I put the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order, it runs piss poor and hardly even holds an idle. If I use the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 order, it'll actually idle nicely, but won't accel like it should.

sounds like it has a non roller older 302 type camshaft (or truck). they use the old firing order. if it is fuel injected with the old firing order, you'll have to switch the injector wires as well.
