I think we're going to have to give DynoJet a call. There must be something wrong with our dyno. We've had several cars on there that have put down more than 1500rwhp and not a wisp of tire smoke came off the cars. We must be doing something wrong.

On second thought, we'll just going give Sam a call. He will be able to tell us how to strap cars down the right way. That way we don't have to wait for DynoJet to open since they are located a few hours behind us out in California.

I never knew there was a proper torque measurement and strap tightening sequence when it came to strapping a car onto a dyno. The DynoJet rep must have forgotten to tell us about that. Guess you learn something new every day.

Wow two harsh replies in two days !

Per Derek at Dynojet this morning ( 1-800-992-3525 / Dynamometers )

Dynojet.com - Innovations & Performance Products from Dynojet.com

He said there is unfortunately no prescribed way to measure the amount of force needed to anchor the car down with the straps. To loose the obvious can happen (this means car could fly off) and to tight WILL EFFECT DYNO RESULTS SLIGHTLY ! ) Oh noooooos ! He said it makes for to much tire on the rollers which will create drag and additional load on the rollers.

While there is no way to measure this loss of power specifically it makes perfect sense, well that is debatable I suppose. Also I have heard tire pressure can play a role in results and traction on the dyno but I forgot to ask after being on hold for 23 minutes. I suppose I could call back to ask if anyone would like to know.

So I guess you in fact DID learn something today. Let me know if I can ever be of any assistance again in the future. After all I am here to help.

Just try to answer a little less hostile next time, it is not necessary and makes for un-necessary drama.

Have a good one and remember watch them straps !

I have to agree that seems like a logical thing to do but there must be a reason why they have not. Maybe Joe will have some input on this from when they installed their dyno.

Its most likely because smooth drums must cost a TON less to manufacture. I could see a whole pile of problems trying to make textured drums .. being as they probly order then straight from a tubing manufacturer ect. It would probly push the cost of the dyno into the red zone and sales would drop ect. I cannot see a safe way to actually ADD a traction material to pre made tubing ect with out the risk of some dangerous flying debree

A sprayer system like you find on the outside of a intercooler that shoots VHT on the rollers would be sweet !

Hmmmmmm........

They do! Sam ordered some at the PRI show.
