Advanced Auto stepped up
I killed the wide band 02 sensor for my lm-1 and went to a/e for a replacement. (Actually matt bought it) They charged 79 plus tax for the sensor. I had talked to them before I bought the unit and they told me they could do replacement for a little over 50.
I called dave because I remembered him saying that the lm-1 sensor was the same as some volkswagon. Sure enough I found out the application and started doing some research on price. I found prices from atuozone, car quest, napa and advance auto. Car quest and napa were both reasonable at 39.99 and 46.99 napa being the cheaper of the two. I found auto zone was 132 and change. I then checked on advanced auto and they were at 199.99 for the damn thing. Since I know the guys up at the store I printed off the napa page and went up there to see if they did price matching. When I showed one of the guys the price difference of 150+ dollars for their sensor he was very suprised. I told him I didn't like dealing with napa and would rather buy the sensor from them if they were even close in price. He told me he would fax over the sheet I printed for him to corprate and see if he could get them to do something.
Two days later I came into the store again and he told me he had a response about the price issue and that advanced had decided they were priceing themselves out of the game. They dropped the price from 200 to 40 in 2 days.
I was amazed they stood up and did something so quickly. Saved me from buying my sensor from napa. They even offer a 1 year warrenty on the sensor where in lm-1 has no warrenty.
So kudo's to them for making the changes and a big thanks to mike at the gulf to bay store for making it all happen!

Old people love how it sounds when it does that!
I forget which year it was on the bettle but p2w is right about it being the 1.8t and it's like a 2000-2003 range.
When buying parts you always should research. If you don't then you will find out alot of times you get ripped off. So I wouldn't say advance auto is the best ever by any means but I will say they stepped up and made this right. Now if only you could get a/e to do the same.
So...whats so bad about NAPA?
