Default kind of a problem with the 03 i was going to get tomorrow

Got a carfax from the good guy here on TR on the 03 I was planning on going to buy tomorrow! The car has report of being a lemon law, but has been threw alot. I read about lemon laws and stating that if a car is brought back to a dealership more then 4 times i can be decleared as a lemonlaw car and they buy it back. The car was auctioned and the new owner put the car threw a complete transplant. New trans, clutch, ect. Motor is a crate motor done up by coastal.( he has the original built and decided to sell seperate of the car. ) Should i be concerned about buyin a car like this? I check it out throughly and it drives like a dream. None of the typical 03 F-ups that some of them are cursed with. I talked to Sam@coastal and i verified that the work he owner mentioned to me was done at his shop. he owner stands by what is done to the car .. im gonna try to get something signed by his stating this. Should i buy this car??? body has 22k motor has under 200 miles. Car is a gem. this sucks..

would the lemon law decrease the value of the car signifigantly?

thanks

david

you should be concerned because it will decrease the value signifigantly. like 30-50 %. i personally would pass, it may as well be a rebuilt title if lemon lawed, if you have second thoughts i wouldn't do it.

i honestly dont think the currect owner even knows about it. He bought the car at a dealership and from what ive been talkin to this guy, i dont think he would try and stiff me a bum car. I know where he works, lives, his family.. everthing. Well see what ford has to say if they can even bring it up

What did Sam say about the car? The car could be cool like Fonzy now and you may be able to use the history to get the price down.
The 03-04 Cobra will be a classic mustang soon enough.

sometimes people just try to get out of a car payment. i remember seeing a used cobra at brandon ford with "frame damage" and the metal was bent where it was strapped down on the transporter, that was all. so i would find out the details before passing this car up

Definitely pass since the car will be missing a set of these.

we are talking about a cobra owner here. most of them are complete asshats. there probably wasnt anything wrong with the car. he probably wasnt happy. could have been a possible past corvette owner. you never know. when i was in service poeple threw that lemon law thing around all the time because they where unhappy with the product and there was nothing wrong with the car.

if you want to give me the vin# i will pull an oasis and see what warranty work it was in service for.
