Default E-brake light

My e-brake light comes up every time I accelerate. I know it isn't engaged (at least from what I can see) but it doesn't feel like it is engaged. Then after I accelerate or come to a stop it will shut off..

What do you think is the problem?

It is an '87 5.0

Your 'E brake light' also doubles as a dummy light for the entire braking system. When something is horribly, horribly wrong the light comes on. Eveuntually your car should throw the trouble code from the moment you turn on the key and it'll stay on. Check out your braking system...I know my Firebird gave me the light because one of my ABS solinoids went bad...but foxbody Rustangs don't have ABS, sooooo.

But the light isn't on all the time? It is just on for about 15-20 seconds then off. Also, the brakes are working fine really.. But... I will bring it to advanced or whatever the place is that checks codes. To see if there is a problem.

Could very well be fluid - I'm not fimillar with the individual causes of the light. I'd always check that first. But theres something wrong with the brake system if that light is going off, whether its just fluid or its something about to blow the hell up.

no, unless you already have dot 5. dot 5 is silicone based, use dot 3 or 4
