F!@#ink ford...anybody with corporate connections??
Long story short, my dad bought an explorer sport brand new in '02. A few months ago, the paint started peeling off, and now most of it looks like crap. He took it to ford, and they admitted having a problem with some of the paint from that year, but because his car was out of warranty they wouldnt help him. He went to ford corporate customer service, and they also admitted it was bad paint and their fault, but would only cover 50%. I think if they admit it was bad paint from the beginning, they should cover to fix it. Anybody have numbers to customer resolutions or anything like that???
Thanks!
Thanks!

Its too bad the paint only lasted 4 years but the car is exactly that 4 years old,he's lucky they even are willing to pay 50%,if it started peeling within a year of the car rolling off the lot then i can imagine warranty or not they would cover it.That's like buying a pair of shoes and then trying to get them replaced for free because the laces got dirty.(for lack of a better metaphor.)
and at the end of the day if you go through the chain of command and they say "sorry this is the best we can do." ? Sounds like you're stuck with the offer they made.

Yeah, don't bitch if they are covering 50% It's an '02, so it's outta warranty on the bumper to bumper and that pretty much means you're SOL for peeling paint . You still gotta remember, that car is half a decade old already

gunna sound like an asshole but just deal with it, at least its not the motor fucking up or anything, granted it is an 02 but if this hot FL weather and the sun shining down on it everyday its gunna happen. so id jus take the 50% and run, its better than u fighting it and then them saying fuck off we dont have to give u anything.

I'll tell my dad to go with the 50%...i just figured that since they completely admit that it was a bad batch of paint and they've seen SEVERAL cars come through with the same problem, someone higher up the line might overturn it. You win some, you lose some. Thanks for the input.

I've seen quite a few fords myself have the same issue. My 97' Mustang has the same issue. It almost seems they baked the paint on too hard. As soon as a rock chips it, it begins flaking.
Generally speaking, I believe Ford's paint and corrosion warranty is good for 5 years. So, depending when you bought it, it's getting fairly close. If you can prove it's still under 5 years, you could possibly keep pressing the issue, but to tell you the truth, you may go through a lot of hassle and aggravation trying to get them to do better than 50% and still turn out that's all you get.
Good Luck either way.
