Question Mustang Odometer Not Working...

I have a 96 Mustang and last week my odometer stopped working. Does anyone know how much it costs to fix it or how hard it is to fix it? Everything else works fine, it just isnt keeping track of how many miles Ive gone anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

I had to replace the entire cable assembly from the speedo cluster to the tranny including the gear. The hardest part was getting behind the cluster.... it took me about an hour to replace everything. You won't have to get behind the cluster. All you have to do is get under the car, pull the Speed sensor and pop a new gear on it. It's not that hard.

Well... Im a girl. All I know how to do is put gas in my car. I live near Carrollwood. My dads best friend is a mechanic..they used to build racing cars together yrs ago. He usually works on my car but I didnt wanna bother him if its something quick and easy cuz hes always really busy. How much would it cost to install? And I need that $25 gear thing, right? Would I need 2 since my odometer and tripmeter arent working? Thanks for your help.

You only need 1 set, get both the cog and worm gear. It takes less than an hour to install.

if the speedo works, but the odo doesn't, is the problem at the tranny gear or the cluster gear? i like cougars and t-birds (mn-12). about one third i look at have this problem,
and efforts are ongoing to have this declared a recall item. ford disagrees.

if the speedo is working that means the gear in the tranny is working, but if the odometer is the only thing not working then its that little gear in the instrument cluster.....
