Default 351 swap question

Im doing a 351 swap in my 87 GT and I need to know if my flywheel off my 302 will bolt up the 351. And I know i need to have the surface cut down but do I need to have it balanced afterwards?

the flwheel will "bolt on" but a 351 needs a 28oz counter weight where as your 302 has a 50oz. same with the harmonic balancer.

hope this helps

FWIW. you dont need to spend a lot of money on a 351 swap oil pan. Go to auto zone and ask for an oil pan for a 1988 Crown Vic with the 351. Same as the motorsport swap pan, but only $85. Get the balancer for the same car. That is if you want to go cheap. i think i paid under $30 for my new balancer

+1 to all of that, there are cheap ways to do the swap. I swapped a 351w into my fox body with no problems. I did opt for a canton 7qt oil pan though only because the 351w is a 393 stroker. There is a ton of swap info on the internet.... Google is your friend!

When doing the swap, I agree there are cheaper ways of doing it. However, just remember you get what you pay for!!

I already have the oil pan. And I did find out today that I need a 28 oz flywheel, and I already have a 28 oz balancer. And yes I know I need swap headers. I have a thread in the Ford section about needing swap headers. Anyone know anyone that has swap headers or a 28 oz flywheel?

I went today and bought a new 28oz Ford Racing Billet flywheel from Brandon Ford so i have that now. I found some Hooker long tube swap headers in Jegs last night for around $220. Is that a good price or is there better and cheaper ones out there?
