HuH? do you even live here in Florida? I had a problem for a while with my car overheating cause I didn't have a thermostat. I'd go on a road trip on 275 and it would overheat found that out the hard way...

I guess I'm having trouble seeing how not having a thermo would overheat your car? Having one would bring the engine up to operating temp faster, but after 180 would remain open the entire time? That was always my impression?

The point of a good cooling system is for the thermostat to stop/slow the circulation of water through the motor to bring the motor up to operating temp sooner. But once the motor is at the thermostats temp it will open and allow circulation of the water that was in the radiator allowing it to cool the motor. At 80 MPH on 275 my car sits at about 2,500 rpms. If I drive from Clearwater to Lakeland as I did that day with no thermostat. There is no way for the circulation of water to slow/stop circulating hence your water temp will just keep getting hotter and hotter. If you drive your car around town and never hit open road for longer then say 30 mins you'll be fine with no thermostat.
