Default one problem after the next.

so now the cobra rattles from the motor when building rpms,im beginning to regret buying this car to begin with.

Although it has that rattle or knock while accelerating it hasnt lost a bit of horsepower and doesnt knock unless you're accelerating, anyone got any ideas? I plan to take it to a few diff people to get opinions but any input here would be cool.

Also i just had new head gaskets installed like a week ago,but they did everything right, but this started a few days after i got it back from the shop.So after a fresh oil change,it's almost like it was filled with some really heavy weight oil to mask the knock (if possible.) before i bought it.

where is the knock? If she is knocking from your bottom end you may have a rod knocking or spun a bearing on your crank. It could be alot of things but knocking isn't good by any standard.

heavy weight oil will mask a small problem sometimes. Thats why they even have that stuff that looks like honey and comes out like 90 weight and you just add a quart.I saw the car when it was for sale and passed on it for certain reasons. Sounds like a rod knock on what your describing. Good luck and I hope its just a loose rocker. Try taking something like a long screwdriver and put the handle to your ear and the point to each side of the valve cover and you might be able to hear the tap. Slowly move it along the cover and you might be able to pinpoint the sound.

the knock sounds like its coming from the back passenger side towards the top of the motor,im hoping its as loose lifter too.

Sounds reasonable after a headgasket was replaced....

being a 96 it should have the mod motor.

Not sure about the DOHC motors but the 2-valve motors are notorious for detonation. Mine was horrible. Threw in a 180 deg T-stat, and run 89 octane and it will only lightly detonate when its warm out and i get on it hard.

pull the dip stick first,
cut the oil filter open second,
but save pulling the pan for last.....
