I built a motor a couple years back... i took a 289 crank,Rods and pistons and put it in a 90's 302 roller block. with an F- cam and victor jr's and a victor jr intake ran 11.70's with a 4cyl t-5. Just a ? if this is a track only car why the fuel injection

As to the pins, any 302 pan will fit on the engine on the engine. But fitting on the car is a different story.. All of the car pans BEFORE 1979 had a big huge front sump(like a small block chevy pan turned backwards). After 79, most cars got the pan that was on your car from the factory. Back when I got into Fords(and Fox chassis) this old timer I used to get stuff from said a Van pan would fit since they had like a mid-rear sump, but I never tried cuz I thought he was full of shit.
If they have aftermarket pans with a screw in tube, great. But it does drive up the cost a bit. DO NOT use a late model pan while using the dipstick in the front...You can be empty in the rear sump and still show adequate oil on the stick since it only reads the front sump portion, which does nothing since the pickup is in the rear.

An aftermarket pan at a couple hundred bux, plus the conversion roller kit, its getting into some money to get to a point youd be at with a good condition factory roller motor depending on the price of the 289...Strength wise I dont think the 289 block gets you anything. From what i remember just the Mexican and Boss blocks were significantly stronger.

I have a fox pan to use...the roller conversion ....who cares it's only money...I'm going to use the motor.......

and Why EFI?? why the fuck not......I just wired the car.....with an A9L.......I'm tired of carbs.........

Go for it! I've run 289's .060 never had a heating problem. Early 289 block is stronger, flip it over and check the main webbing and pan rails, more beef in the 289. In the mid 60's they ran solid lifter cams, shit load of rear gear and spun the 289's 9000rpm. Guy I grew up around, has 33 ford pickup with a 289 toploader 4spd and 9inch rear. Been that way since the late 60's, I've rode in the truck many times, watched him shift it at 9200rpms, truck has been that way for almost 40 years, it's never came apart. If you want to utilize the rpm potential of your 289 put a nice solid roller cam in it, go with a short runner injected intake like a victor jr. It would be a azz kicker with a stick tranny, because of the rpm potential it could have. The 302 main girdles fit the 289 also, but hell they didn't use them back then, that's a bandaid they came up with for the 302 roller blocks, so when they eventually split in halve, the girdle holds the pieces together neatly, that shows you the difference in strenght of the two. at .040 you should have around 295 cubic inches. Good Luck!!!

nah. even if it's a sequential system, all you have to do is change around the injector wiring just like you do the plug wires.

EEC-IV is bank injection, so it doesn't make a bit of difference.
