Rumor Sunshine closed!
Today I found out that 1/8th mile track will be closed since they tore it up and are trying to see how to fix it. I guess there resurfacing went bad. he's not sure if he is ready to invest the big bucks now to repair the track. So it might be a while. Hope I'm wrong on this one.

I doubt it was closed down... they are holding the rx street nights there tomorrow.

The rumor I heard last was that Sunshine sold to the city, county or as you say state. Heard that they were going to open the track free of charge to help reduce or stop street racing....

pinellas county owns the land that sunshine sits on. they purchased it last year. they are leasing the track until it gets turned into an on ramp.
they track did get tore up on wednesday and it is closed tonight, the races were cancelled.(last i heard). and they are unsure if they will invest the money to fix it.

exactly what figment is saying. But also found out that it will be a while before pinellas county does anything now because of lack of funds. Do not be surprised if it goes up for sale in the next 3-5 years due to budget concerns. I'm afraid it will be closed for a while due to he doesnt want to invest that kind of money to fix the track.
