Default Help...

So im in a little delemma....My car is acting kinda funny, wanted to see who experenced it.My O2 sensors are unplugged and have been but lately when im driving and just cruising it sputters and the its fine. Also when i give it WOT i slow down it surges real bad untill i rev it or give it WOT again.I'm guessing spark pluggs cause i pulled the cap and the rotor looks fine to me a little oxidation but nothing major.

How old are the wires? Just from what I'm reading it needs a good tune up. Why did you disconnect the oxygen sensors to begin with? Did the condition exist before you unplugged them?

Not really, the wires arent to old,i took the wire off one of the spark plugs and say like a brownish oxidation but it was only where the plug wires touch, the rest was white.I didnt take it out but there was a 1/2 inch space of white that i could see where the wires WERENT touching.

How old is not too old? Are they the same wires that were on the car when you bought it? When doing a tune up do everything all at once. Fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, clean air filter. Use a spray bottle with water and spray a mist around the vacuum hoses under the intake while the motor is running. If the idle changes at all while you're doing so you have a vacuum leak.

I just remembered you have that MSD box. What kind of plugs are you running? Don't run platinum plugs with it. MSD boxes and platinum plugs = erratic spark pattern which would be a symptom of sputtering / bucking. Just use regular copper plugs gapped at .050 to .054.

If the IAC is plugging up, will cause the car to almost die when you push the clutch pedal in. When you reach over and give it gas it will surge but try to die. If that is what you are seeing, get the IAC adjustment plate. You just take the connector off the IAC, install the plate, set the idle, and then plug it back in. Problem solved... It used to cost like 5 bucks from the local parts store, but I don't know if you can still get it. I know that 50resto.com has them, but they are expensive there.

Good Luck

That is my thought and my own experience when it happened to me. Just shoot some carb cleaner in there.
