my boy has a 88 mustang gt and he has a problem. the car starts just fine and runs fine too, but when he turns it off and takes the key out the car still runs and you have to disconect shit to cut it off. this just recently started happening. he already bought and installed a new starter, starter solenoid, and ignition lock cylinder. anyone know what it could be? lmk asap

The part your key goes into has nothing to do with the problem. You need to replace the actual ignition switch. This is a pic of the ignition switch. It's most likely your problem. You can get one anywhere I think their only around 20.00 at Ford.

it may not be the igition switch.
here are some of the top causes idle speed to high
ignition timing incorrect
incorrect spark plug heat rang
vacuum leak at the intake manifold
carbon buildup in combustion chambers
