1 3/4 long tubes....Gaskets?
Ok, I got these MAC 1 3/4 longtubes in a 89 GT.. And they are a mother fucker to work with...
To keep from dealing with blown header gaskets I bought a set of the Percy's aluminum dead soft gaskets, they say they will last forever.. But by the time I port matched them to the ports there isnt much left of them anyhow..
Question is, I see alot of guys with turbos using high temp RTV where the header bolts to the head... Is this doable with 1 3/4 long tubes? The headers are off the car right now and figured I would ask before I end up making a massive mess of everything and end up putting the gaskets back on.
I've done this with great success on other cars, but never on a car with a bitch of a fit like these long tubes..

i had the same problem when i put my 1 3/4 LT's on my last 5.0, to fix it i bought Copper header gaskets there like 50bucks and then a set of cheap aluminum ones, i put a thin layer of rtv to hold them together and then a thin layer on each side and then put them on never had a problem after that
