10.5 inch tire on a mustang
i was told that you can put a 10.5 tire with out it rubbing if you use a 10 inch wide rim, with a 6.5 backspace. supposed to put the tire down evenly, just wondering if it was true
I ran 26x10 ET Drags on my '90 coupe on 15x8" rims with hardly any problem. I just rolled the lip of one fender (very slightly)
Later I went to 28x10.5 ET Drags on the same car with 15x10s and the same backspacing you are talking about. With aftermarket control arms, quad shocks removed, a nice sized hammer to beat in the inner side of the wheel housing and a little more rolling of the fenders (although, still not noticeable without feeling or kneeling down to actually look at the fenders) I guess you could say they do fit.
Not sure how tall of a tire you are thinking about, just keep in mind the highth of the tire will alter the stance/launching characteristics of the car.

Everything that Adrenalin said was the same on my car except I didn't have to roll my fenders when I had the 26 X 10's. When I switched to the 28 X 10.5's, they needed to be rolled.

What body style is the car? SN-95 cars can take much more tire than a fox.
What exact tire do you want to put on there? For instance, Mickey Thompson measures their tires differently between ET Streets and ET Drags. The drags they measure the tread width. For ET Streets, they measure the widest point of the tire (the buldge in the sidewall). A 26x10.5 ET Street is actually built on a 26x8.5 carcass.
And forget about drag radials. All of those measure differently.

I got 28x10's under one of my 90 hatches I used to have by only rolling the lip a little and doing the ballpeen hammer mod to the inner fender well and losing the quad shocks too!!
The only real drama from that was driving it to the track on slicks!

my 26/8.5 were a tight fit w/5.5 back space and a sn/95 rearend.
the 11.5 ET/Street won't be any wider than a 10.5 ET Drag, if anything it'll be narrower
I want to say that my friend mike had a 12.5 et street while running True Street, but I'll have to confirm.
