What about just finding a four cylinder coupe/hatch? That is practically a guaranteed solid body and they can be found fairly cheap in good shape. You'll get great gas mileage while you gradually update the suspension and save up for a V8 swap. Just some food for thought.

I went and checked it out today. I think he wants a little too much for it. Its a very optionless 88, looks to only have a/c, cruise control and heat, thats it. No power anything inside, plus its got 130k miles. He wants $4500 for it. Its an option, but id rather give him $3500 for it

Im gonna skip one th eone you suggested. I called the guy with the car that has a cage. It seems like a nice car to start with, lesser miles, it was just converted to R134 and a fresh heatercore. Its got a alumn driveshaft, steeda rear control arms, steeda c/c plates, tokico shocks, t rex pump, its a stock motor with a b303 cam abnd maybe ported heads, he doesnt know for sure. The rear end has an auburn, 3.73 gears, and 31 spline mosers

Don't make my mistake and jump in the first car you think is okay. Seems like lots of people suggested a pass on that car. I wish I held out for a '01 with a built motor but I couldn't hold my load. This is a prime opportunity to get a nice upgrade...
