Help me ford forum =D
Ok, heres how things are going...
We have this guy hooking up the mass air in my 86 and he says he cant get the car to run...
We switched from the original factory ecu to the a9L but we are using the old harness that originally came with the car.
And the guy cant get it to fire. He has done this plenty of times before but im just asking so i know whats going on. Do any of you have experience with this?
The guy is messing with the distributor right now to see what he can do...have any of you others done this and had this problem

did he also move some pins around I believe there is either 2 or 4 pins that need to be moved. Oh yes and the BAP sensor also. but I think it will be called the Map now or the other way around. forgot its been years

The only thing done with the MAP sensor on the firewall is that he hose going to it needs to be removed and the hose (or port under the intake) needs to be capped off. The distributor has absolutely nothing to do with conversion so your buddy shouldn't be messing with it or else he's gonna hae a big headache after messing with that car.

The car was in a running condition, I drove it a good 15-20 miles to this shop and dropped it off...
And I supplied him with no parts (except the a9L) I just gave him the car and he's adding the wiring to the old harness and he installed an a9L in place of the old ecu and he says he cant get it to stay running.
I'll get with him tomorrow about capping off those ports on the intake and shit and we'll see what happens. It should be something stupid, and because this guy is fuxin around im gonna pay big bucks $$

I think i've narrowed the problem to having a bad computer, or meter
The meter tube was drilled for a nitrous injector, so maybe some type of combustion occured in that tube and fryed the meter...
That link shows you how to convert, and I believe the guy when he says hes got the wiring right, i just think i supplied him with some shitty parts. Ill see what he says tomorrow

We've eliminated all other problems now...
We are back down to the computer being bad, or the harness being damaged from prior removal. 550 dollars to pull the dash down is what he quoted me and back out the harness and inspect it, possibly repair it? Sounds like a bit much, I already owe him 400 dollars! By the time its all over this fucking conversion is going to cost me 1000+ dollars

The dash does not need to be dropped to remove the harness. The harness pulls out through the firewall. Have you moved the pins to their correct locations? Unless you're trying to do a "like-factory" installation you can disregard the portion circled in red. Just be sure all of the above is done.
