The car deakers use a little black book that is published monthly. I think it's just reffered to as the used car guided. If you go to an auction with dealers they are all using the same book.

They also use a program but I can't think of the name atm. It searchs for sales at auctions of like automobiles and what they sold for. If you need the name I can find out but it's another dealer only type of thing. Getting one of the books isn't hard either if it's like 8 years old it's the black one. If it is older then 8 years it's a grey book.

Are you looking to buy or sell, going to an auction?, this will determine the book to use as a guide. Remember these books are guides, some models are hotter then others, and the time of year will determine pricing. Yes you can pay to much using the black book at an auction if your not careful. Most all dealers will use rough book as trade in and go from there even if your car is mint. (fact of life)

well trading or selling you will get 2 different prices which will can vary. Yes some banks do use Nada but depending on your becon score is how much they are willing to lend. Sometimes they will go over 125% with an over 700 beacon.

i'm not looking for a loan,i was curious on how people put a value on there car when they are ready to sell.I used to go on a average of what similer cars like mine sold for,but some people use blue book or nada.I was just wondering why i get two different prices when i check both of them.

There really isn't a set price, as everything is worth what someone will pay for it....
I use as much information as I can find and then come up with my own price. I get nada.com, kbb.com, Autotrader.com, general internet searches, and the paper to come up with a price. I know that my cars are clean and maintained, so I do go for the upper numbers when selling. Most people don't have a problem with the higher price, if the car is clean. Dealers will low ball your car and hide it in the sale price. You just have to know what price you are going to accept when the deal is done. Then go at the deal and know what you want to pay for something new before you trade it in. I am sure the dealer will not go hungry on the deal.... Anyways, good luck on the sale....
