My fox was originally a T5 car. The girl I bought it from put in an AOD because she hated shifting. When I swapped in the 351w I wanted to go back to a stick. I knew a T5 wouldn't hold up behind the new motor. So...... I had James at Race Related put in a new TKO600. He did the entire swap for me. I am very happy with the work he did and I love the TKO600. A TKO600 may be overkill for your 302, but if you intend on making alot of power down the road I highly recommend the TKO600.

agreed, tremec hands down over the t5, you don't need a powerful car to kill a t5, just bad luck or a few bad shifts.

btw, what you'll spend depends on the parts you need.
It's a good idea to find someone with a complete conversion for you to buy (tranny, crossmemeber, shifter, bellhousing , clutch (or buy new), pedal assembly, quadrant, cable, etc. I've seen that for around 700 (but when i had one for sale i thnk I only got 400!!) Just depends on the market the day you're looking for parts. If you peice it out you'll definitely spend more. It will definitely wake up your car. Labor is subjective. If you go to a shop you usually will be happy, get some kind of guarantee, and spend a lot more. I think it's about a day driveway job if you want to do it yourself, I have a few times, pulling the dash sucks.
I would rather pay my friend a few hundred for the labor if I ever do it again!!!
