Default Exhaust?

I currently have Flowmasters w/an off road H-pipe with no cats. Also shorty headers with the pipes coming out the back like stock ones. I like the look it has with the pipes out the back, but damn I love the sound of turndowns. Is there any benefit or loss with turndowns? Opinions

turn downs are less restrictive than tail pipes, so generally more hp, but leaves an awful drowing sound, epecially with flowmasters, and can lead to stinky interiors.

I never had a problem with fumes in mine neither, occassionally I did, like when backing up. I just couldn't stand the drone anymore, so I ditched the flows.
