Default 5.4 SC Head Problem

Does anyone know if there a TSB on this issue or if Ford has covered the repair? I have a friend who blew one out of his 02 Harley this weekend. His extended warranty will not cover it, saying it is a spark plug problem and that a spark plug is not covered. He contacted Ford and they said that it is not a problem with the heads. I am pretty sure it is a known problem, but I guess it is not covered? Does anybody know what the deal is? Anybody get it repaired under Ford Warranty?

Smokeshow, I know you had this happen to your L. Was it covered or were you already out of warranty?? ( I just don't remember what happened after I towed you home.... )

Editied because I had the wrong year of the truck.

Prior to 03, the heads only had a few threads of engagement for the sparkplugs and they would tend to blow out of the head under boost. 03 and up heads have a revised casting with some additional depth for the spark plug threads.

You should be able to find quite a bit about it on corral or the f150 forums.

Thanks for the info, I will check there as well. I did check back though and it is an 02. I updated the first thread.

Thanks

This is the other one that I was talking about. I was thinking my brother might end up with this one....
