Default Temperature Gauge

Just took the car out for the first time in about 3 weeks and the temp gauge jumped up to 1/2 way which I believe is about 210. It only did it while sitting still at a light or at an idle for a few minutes. It has a 180 stat in it, should it go up to 210 or not. I know it's humid and hot as hell right now, I'm assuming that's all it is. Any ideas???

could be stuck thermo, letting a car sit for a while can cause it to stick

Mine has a new stock radiator, new fan clutch, new stock water pump, and new 180 tstat.. its at 180 constantly with a/c off, traffic or not, and 190-200 with a/c on while sitting at a light.

It has a new FMS aluminum radiator and a 2 speed electric fan. It's a new stat (which has been working fine when it was cooler), it has the stock waterpump as well. Would the SC have anything to do with it making it run hotter in this weather? The gauge goes right back down to 180 once I'm driving again at a constant speed.

Hmm, sure your fans are running? Maybe it's only running low speed or not at all?

Fan is running, I only have it on the 1st speed right now. I'm going to put it on the 2nd speed next time I take it out, hopefully Saturday. My guess is the damn hotter weather because before it ran between 180 and 190 constantly.
