Default Changing EEC from A9P to A9L....

Anybody know if there is anything that needs to be changed to do the swap? Wiring harness and plugs etc all the same? I know there are timing differences and tranny strategies. I can handle that but I'm talking just the mechanics of it all.

Harness and plugs are identical. They're electrically the same.

Lots of diagrams and stuff here. http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/

Thought so. I'm having tropble getting the Tweecer to hook up properly to the A9L...no problem with the A9P though. Looks like I'll just have to keep cleaning on the J3 port connectors till I get it. I have that link but forgot about it. Thanks, Leonard.

Not on the AOD but you can on the newer ones I believe. I have antique shit. I was refering to setting the transmission strategy scalar for manual w/ neutral & clutch switches or non-electric auto (plays around with timing on shifts and decel/stopping) I think on the 99 and up you can do all sorts of wonderful things but haven't paid much attention since I don't have one of those.

i was referring to the timing games it plays on shifts. If you can change that stuff, there's not much difference between the two that i'm aware of...

I think you can. I really haven't looked into the A9L stuff that much...but was wanting to try. There are these functions in there but I don't know what they do:
Transmission – Shiftlight RPM vs ECT
Transmission – Shiftlight RPM vs Load

I mostly wanted to use it because I can control the fan with it plus there are a few other little niceities that you can use to play with adaptive learning and some spark table differences. Probably not worth the effort but might be fun to play around with.

I'll probably end up selling this A9L I have because the A9P is doing just fine.
