can i put a cam on a stock motor with stock heads??

Default can i put a cam on a stock motor with stock heads??

HEy,ok i have my 87 302 i did my maf conversion,now can i add a cam to the stock motor, keeping the stock cylinder heads to add some power?if i can wich one would it be?i have auto tranny so, i know i need a stall converter in ,so what kind of stall you guys recomend with a cam??eventually i will buy aluminum heads, but i just wanna add a cam for now..thanks for any advice you guys could give me in advance

Tony, if you insist on putting a cam on a stock engine, go with a tfs stage 1 or e cam, both should not require notching the pistons.

i had an e303 in my stock headed 302, it was as fast as vinces car, with a big cam and big compression.

THe stock H.O. cam is actually a pretty good cam for mild bolt ons.... If you want a nice gain, replace that intake... or have your lower ported... you'll see a nice boost that way.....

Then go with heads and cam..

i actually saw vince car when it was running i loved how that thing sounded,thats actually pretty funny steve you rcar was as fast as vinces with just a cam lol,i am still laughing about thatwell eventually i am goin to get rid of the intake manifolds i wanna get the bbk ssi one but i just wanna put a cam lol just for the noise purposes n maybe i can break th emotor and it will motivat eme in buying a new one

hahahaha!!....well if i add eithe rof the cams i am goin ot need a stall converte rin it right or will i be fine with out one??
