Default Block question...

OK When I bought my 85 coupe from a friend, He also gave me a '67 302 and matching heads... Now the question at hand is, is there a way to tell what year the block actually is??? AS well is there any pro's to this block if it actually is a '67 block.. Just looking at it, its in need of being honed and on the deck lid there is a serial number of sorts... Which a few friends say that they are not sure about for they have never seen anything like that before.. Any ideas???

probably would help if you listed what the numbers on the block were.

Casting number should have a "C6" in it. C for the 60's and 6 for the year.

Get a block code and we can decode it for you, until then your just guessing. Try to get a head code while your at it so you can tell what year/CC your heads are.

I believe some early 68's were 289's then sometime in the model year they all were 302's.

yeah...the only reason to use a old block is matching number car...otherwise better to go roller.
