Default officially pissed at Ford.

Ok, so about 9 months ago im driving when i notice theres coolant on the footpad under the pedals, turns out the heater core was leaking and it cause fluid to go everywhere, so i take it to Ford and have them fix it. about a month later it happens again, so i take it back and have it fixed under warrenty, so i go off to school in august, come home in october, and it happens again as im pulling in my driveway after a 4 hour drive, once again, i take it to ford and bitch them out for having to do this three times......same exact thing....so im driving tonight and i smell the coolant once again, shit, yes it happened again, im fucking pissed because it ended my night of racing before it began.....

so heres my question, its the heater core or the plumbing going to it. Is there a well known week link in the system, a clamp or a hose prone to breaking or leaking? would high rpms (above 5000) for extended periods (maybe 2-3 minutes with the car hot) cause something to rupture under pressure? i mean i have to take it to ford and basically tell them what to do to it so it wont ever happen again, this is rediculous. i mean i would just bypass the heater, but i need it in tally sometimes....and if it ever happens again is there a quick fix i can do to keep it from leaking for the time being, like the time it takes me to drive it home to the shop whatever?

sorry its so long, but im pissed and im out of thoughts about this mess..

worst part is i had a good hundred dollars tied up in races i would have won hands down tonight too...

thanks guys.

No, the rpms shoudn't matter....your coolant cap has a pressure release, so if your coolant pressure gets over the specified psi it should relieve the pressure....it sounds like a fault in the heater core...when you take it to get it fixed again, tell them you want to see the heater core they removed....if its leaking from the core itself then there must be a thin spot in it....talk to the service manager and tell him whats happening and how many times it happend and tell him you want it fixed right this time... If it happens again call ( Channel 8 on your side ) and they will make a fool out of that particular dealership.....and you might be entitled to file the lemon law on it....

a 96 mustang with a warranty still? How'd you manage that one? Like Ryan said though, tell them you want to see the parts taken from your car, i'd bet anything they just filled the system with a bottle of stop leak like you'd buy at autozone.

Not on a 1996 Mustang in 2005. It's nearly a decade old.

no, theres no warrenty on the car, but there is on the repair work done.

If theyre just using stop leak then im gonna take em to court, i paid an arm and a leg the first time, now granted ive gotten my moneys worth of labor and parts due to this whole thing, but still...

and i think they have been replacing the heater core, but i dont think the leak is coming from the core itself, its gotta be in a connecting hose somewhere, or a clip that gives out.....i dont know, im about to have the thing bypassed if that will fix it for good.

ford likes to use rebuilt heater cores, had it on one of my older stangs. Find out if they put a brand new one in.
