Default Head Question

Thinking of buying new heads need opinions from people who own them.
Edelbrock Performer,AFR 165,GT-40P,FRPP Y303's. I know the AFR's are the best flowing and have made 90hp increases on Magazine motors but they are almost 400 more than the edelbrocks, which are 200 more than the y303's which are 600 more than the GT-40P's(only 300 if you count the special headers)
So my question is which will give the best Bang for the buck.I'm leaning heavily towards the Edelbrocks which were recently redesigned to keep up with AFR and have seen the numbers which mirror the AFR 165's so I'm kinda stuck.

Where are these #'s that mirror the afr 165's? I'd like to see that.

From the flow #'s I've seen it's hard to even compare the AFR's to any of those other cylinder heads listed because they are way out of their league.

Edlebrock Performers - 223in/168ex
AFR 165 - 250in/185ex
GT-40P - 196in/139ex
FRPP Y303's -206in/146ex (Not 100% on this)

That being said. I think you should try to match your combo the best as possible. Get a set of heads based on alot of things including what your intake flows etc. I have a friend who has the Performers and he's very pleased with them. Personally, I like the idea of taking a set of iron heads and making them as fast or faster then aluminum headed car. I have a set of GT-40 (Cobra heads) that I was going to P&P. I've seen some VERY impressive #'s from GT-40 and GT-40P users!

I'm using old school GT-40's (not p's) with stock valves and make 300 n/a.
HAD almost the same setup a few years with AFR 165's never got more than 280 out of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the GT-40's are better than the AFR's just didn't make the #'s. The AFR is a quality head. Fit and finish was A+, direct bolt on.

You have to build a combo. It's not just the head. Different heads work differently with different combos. Compression is also a factor. I have AFR 185's simple little TFS Stage 1 cam, 1.72's, and just a "little" compression. I am making right around 400 rwhp. BTW, I still have more tuning.

Gyno Sheet or I call jfwy.

anyway I have the Trickflow TrackHeats, TrickflowR intake, powermax 498' cam, 1.72s, on a Stock Bottem end. Making around 365... Like said above. Its not just the heads, its the whole combo. Do some research and find out what works best...
