Default Reworking engines

Ok I have yet to tell anyone this but, my car is not all that hot. It may have a 5.0 but that 5.0 is old and tired. Id say its time for some head work, boring, and all that fun stuff. I owe it to the engine it must have 200,000 miles on it. It looks clean for the stock engine under the hood because we just painted the engine, it looks fairly clean for 18 years old. Now that I have a job again I'm thinking ahead on how to improve this thing. How much can I expect to pay for the ENTIRE ENGINE (block, heads)(Im adding a new intake later) to be reworked so this thing can truely be classified as a 5.0 again? It was great and all seeing as how this was my first car and I don't know any better, but the more i think about it, I know that this thing needs help. I shift around 3 grand to prevent pistons from becoming projectiles and going through my hood.

rebuild = prolly $1k using stock internals.. add $400 or so for new stuff (that's including labor)

used aluminum heads = $1k w/rockers

used intakes = $300 (cobra, edlebrock, etc.)

convert it to mass air = $100 (used wiring) and $200 (used 24lb and maf)

gears = $400 parts and install

so, for $3k you could put down 300rwhp... if not a little more

your best bet is to buy a new engine. Check out what DSS or Keith Craft or FMS is offering.
