How much power are you looking to make?
That engine is good for 300 rwhp all day long with decent h/c/i.
Its hard to make too much more n/a with 302 cid. You can, just gets starts to get REAL expensive.

So i should start with the heads first! I was told that 351 heads should fit my 302. do they have to be from a cetain year to fit my 95? 300 350 whp sounds like a good start. eventually this car will probably be only for the track but i figured id start slow and build my way up to that point.

If I were starting out,I would save my money, then buy the Trick-flo h/c/i package. It's more money but you can do it all in one shot.

dont touch you motor until you have

subframe connectors.

upper and lower rear control arms.

gear.

you get the most bang for the buck out of your suspension.

I would personally get a set of used GT-40 heads and get a nice cam in there. Aftermarket Trick Flow upper and lower intake. You will notice a large difference. Then after that, build your suspension a little see how the car bites with that setup, it isn't too expensive for that stuff at all. You really need to figure out what you want to do with the car long term. If you want to utilize the stock shortblock with a nice little amount of miles already on it, then I would suggest the plan I just told you. If you want to have a fully built track/street freak. Then you need to save for a shortblock that is ready for high compression. In the meantime just keep it simple, you will love the 260 rwhp with a nice suspension. If you have any more questions or wanna more in detail about a particular setup, then ask away.
