Default Turbo question.

I've just about got all of the pieces I need for my turbo setup. I need to now choose a turbo. I want something that spools up quick, it doesn't need to make massive amounts of power as I'm pretty much stock with a 9.2:1 C/R . It also has to be fairly small in general as there isn't much room between the engine and the radiator. The manifold has a T3 flange on it so I was looking at some of the quicker spooling factory turbos that were out on the market. Possibly hunting some Junkyards and getting one rebuilt. Any ideas on what cars to look for that I can get this kind of turbo out of? The MAX I would run after some fine tuning is around 10 PSI, the stock engine can handle more, but I want to keep my engine for a little while at least. . I was thinking maybe an early 90's Dodge/Chrysler product. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

FYI there's a guy running around with 1.9 pistons (dished instead of domed) in a 2.0 block/heads running 20PSI on a smaller turbo . Stock everything less fuel/ignition management of course Somewhere around 212whp and 268whtq with a horrible fuel curve. I want to sit on around 200horsepower give or take, tuned well.

An SVO, or turbocoupe turbo would work well for you, however they are hard to find in the junkyard, you can also look for some volvo rides as well, they came with decent little turbos.

absolutely not, do nto buy a stone mountain turbo, biggest peice of craps out there. Go to turbomustangs.com and do a search. Also you can go to www.turboford.org and do some research as well. I seen you posted to an ad in the classifieds, that turbo in there looks to be good.

Considering the compression that you're running, I'd think that the little IHI turbo off of the 87-88 Turbo Coupe would be a good choice. It IS smaller than the T3 on the Merkurs, SVOs and early T-Birds, but it WILL spool up quicker and will provide at LEAST 10 psi all day. With the 9.2:1 compression, I think it would be a good choice. And they're so damn cheap, too... While a lot of people seem to opt for the T3's that came on the 2.3T, they seem to forget that the 87-88 5-speed Turbo Coupe was rated at 210 hp, which is more than all of the other 2.3T cars!
