Cool little car. The louvers are a nice touch.

That was 1.6 Liter Turbo just like in the old Escort EXP's. One of the first few Mazda/Ford Hybrids, that one was basically all a Mazda thing though.

As far as reliability they were top notch, just hard as hell to find them as they were a limited production run. There's still some floating around in junkyards, crashed etc. You can still get alot of parts from Japan straight off of the old Mazda Familia. These engines were in the Escort GT, the Escort EXP, Mercury Lynx LN7(super rare), Escort XR3i, and the Mazda 323. In the Escort they were in production in 84 and 85 only.

The American version was 120hp. More than the the VW Rabbit GTI and the Dodge Omni GLH had off the showroom floor.

As far as how much it can make, not many know as there isn't many in existence lol.

They were pretty solid motors, I believe it was a SOHC chain driven 1.6 liter CARB'D . Turbo

There were quite a few 1.6 turbo's Ford made in those years. I'm not sure exactly which one of them was used in this car, as I've never had the chance to see one in person. The horsepower ranged from 110 to 150hp from the factory. Depending on whether it was SOHC or DOHC carb'd or EFI.

Give me a few minutes and I'll find out EXACTLY what motor was in there.

Anyone else find it disturbing that someone would know so much about an ESCORT?

Completely Forged Internals, 8.0:1 compression, it will last forever . Considering that the stock motor made 80hp, 120 turbo'd was a nice jump for a factory car.
