Default MM&FF's Hotrod Hooligan goes 10's!

If you guys are following MM&FF's project Hotrod Hooligan, in this months issue they went 10.69 @ 127 mph in their Fox body GT with a stock junkyard motor and HP turbo kit at 15 psi. They did a basic rebuild and put a transbrake and lockup in the AOD to get there. Now I know for sure I can run well into the 10's the next time out to the track. They're doing the same thing with their project car that I'm doing, trying to go as fast as they can on a stock motor with just the turbo kit. Man all the supercharger guys are gonna hate reading this article.

I was just reading my pro 5.0 on the john after work today and was reading about a stock shortblock, valve covers never removed, coupe that was running 10.60s with an s/c at 15lbs.

Very impressive things can be done both ways.

Anyone ever tried a dual stage 200-250 shot on a stock engine and see how it does? Probably the same, but even cheaper.

i couldnt get anything more than 175 through a bigshot plate to work with stock heads. it would run like hell for about 80feet, then it was like someone turned the ignition off. i bet a fogger setup would be more efficient, but who wants to drill a stock intake.

Close but not quite. That is Tim Stockwells's white coupe. That car is stripped down, no ac, no ps, full drag suspension running 17 lbs of boost and ran a 10.91 @ 123 mph only after adding a Snow Methanol injection kit. Without the alcohol injection it was running 11.64 @ 116 mph.

Now lets compare 2 completely stock cars one with a turbo and one with a blower. Mine and Jeff's, both 16 psi, mine 124 mph, his 116 mph just like Stockwells car before the meth injection.

You're right, it can be done both ways but it's so much easier with the turbo because it is so much more efficient. My kit added 350 flywheel hp to the stock motor at 16 lbs of boost and the same boost level Jeff's blower added 250 hp.

Yea, turbos are more efficient hands down, but availability and cost is also higher with a turbo.

I'll go with n/a and spray until I decide on my upcoming setup.

Yeah nitrous is the way to go when funds are tight. It's so much fun too, that shit comes on so hard you can't believe how hard you car pulls for only spending $500 on the kit. I think me and Jeff went 12.30 and 12.40 respectively with our completely stock 90 LX's about 10 years ago, that was fun.

We arent a good comparison though. I think I have a few HP loss with my stock headers and clutch fan - I bet an easy 30hp.

In all fairness, Stockwells meth injection could be compared to your intercooler. If you read his "im better than you" posts, he sounds like a real ego-asshole.

It could be but I don't know why you would, his air intake charge is probably 100 degrees lower than mine and the methanol adds enough octane to be the equivalent to race fuel so I don't think it is a very good comparision.
