Default Carbed 5.0 Distributor recommendations

I am looking for a distributor to run on a non computer controlled carbed 5.0 in my 68 Stang.

From what I understand I need to use a bronze gear with the roller cam right?

I am going to be running the following:

92 5.0 stock block and pistons
Comp Cams XE-274HR
Edelbrock Performer 5.0 heads
FMS 1.6 RR

Looking to keep the cost under $250

1985 gt dist from autozone will work if you have a duraspark ignition box.

personally i like msd prodcts, which will work with a duraspark or msd box.

That is a negative on the bronze gear, you need to use the steel gear, if using a hydraulic roller. You are looking for MSD 8682 dizzy, I think that is it, and you can get the gear for 35.00 and have it installed for only 5.00 by calling MSD. You will have to get the distributor somewhere else though. I recommend Summit. You can use the bronze gear only for a limited time, before it grinds away at your cam gear. Check out www.carbdford.com in the tech section it has complete dizzy choices to use, what to look for at boneyards and various places.

Sweat thanks for the info, I was confused on the gear deal. I have a mallory unilite of my 289, but I was told it would not work and would need the gear anyway...

So for stock style cam, steel is the way to go correct?
