High heat paint

Default High heat paint

The one they sale on auto part sis like 5 bucks a can,it says to heat the part up after painting for maximun hard coat finish,well ia m painting the headers with it,anyone in here tried that paint before and heate dup in th eoven well ike a hous eoven is it safe to do that

Do they have to be heated when the paint is still tacky? If not, just spray them and put them on, they will make plenty of heat under the hood.

yeah i think it does but you are right they would be plenty hot i also bought the clear coat paint,it says its resistant till 500 degrees shoudl that be anough the piant is 1200 degrees,i was thinking of doing a few coats of clear i did like 3 coats of paint, it looks pretty goosd with just the paint i am waiting for it to dry a lil more then i am goin to clear coat it

The headers will get hotter than 500 degrees. I would just do the high heat paint.

yeah i dont know why ia m painting i eventually it will rust thru again right.

Ive never got any of the heat paint to work on headers more than a week...

Powdercoat is your better bet for a high tempature paint or ceramic coating.

Its a waste something like brake calipers it wouldnt be a waste.

It's definately better than nothing, and my high heat paint lasted a couple months, but the paint sucked.

Obviously powdercoating or ceramic coating is better, we all know that, trying to do low budget things to preserve uncoated headers is what the high temp paint is about.
