Alright 'Stang Guys
Why not do a 4-banger to Windsor conversion? Learn to do a lot of the work yourself along the way. Plus, you'd still be paying 4-cylinder insurance unless you claimed the V8 swap on your policy. Build up a car yourself with the parts you want the first time around without having to swap stuff out all the time.

Thought about it, but I don't know if its cost-efficent. I only want high 11s, and a 302 can run that like nothing with just a few grand in mods, eh? I thought about a swap from a 4 to either a 302 or a 351, but both just seemed like they were an assload of work and money in the end. Still, it doesn't defeat my problem that I'm really sick of the Firebird and really wish there was a way to finance a 25 year old car.

its never just a few grand, trust me.
Work on the cosigner hard, as most car lots even buy here, pay here, die here lots will not sell you a V-8 stang due to your age (under 1
and no credit what soever. Have you checked insurance on a V-8 Mustang, might be higher then your monthly payments on the car. Not trying to be negative but hard when low on cash. Wait till tax time and try to sell yours at the same time. Not sure though how much you will get back though. You need to figure it out to make sure its not only a couple of hundred dollars. 87-90 are usually found for as low as a 1000 to avg about 2500 for a driver to 3500-4500 for a super clean one. they are out there but have cash for the deals.

You may be able to make one hail mary pass and cut a high 11 on a bolt on 150-175 shot 5.0, but chances are it's going to be high mileage and your going to ventilate the block or grenade a t5.
