2005 NMRA-Denso Ford Nationals Official Event Schedule
Just a FYI for you guys.
Santa Ana, Ca. – Friday, November 19, 2004 – ProMedia Events and the NMRA-Denso Ford Nationals have released the NMRA official event schedule for the 2005 season. The NMRA Denso Ford Nationals, the premier all-Ford heads-up drag racing, car show and swap meet event series in the country, will again produce a total of nine events in 2005. The NMRA will return to all of the great national facilities that were featured on the 2004 series tour, including Bradenton Motorsports Park, Route 66 Raceway, Beech Bend Raceway, and Maple Grove Raceway.
With a new major advertising campaign scheduled to launch in January, and the return of ESPN2 coverage, the NMRA Denso 2005 season will be it’s best ever. Charlie Harmon, ProMedia Events Vice President, had this to say about the NMRA and it’s prospects for the 2005 year, “we are excited about this year’s schedule. We have some great venues and wonderful partners who share in our goals of producing outstanding events. You couple this with the stellar level of competition that NMRA participants offer and you have the ingredients for the best Ford events in some of the country’s premier markets.”
The kick-off event of the season, the 4th Annual Nitto Tires NMRA Spring Ford Nationals, will explode into Bradenton Motorsports Park during Florida’s wild and crazy Spring Break weekend. Following Bradenton will be the 6th Annual Bassani Exhaust NMRA Ford Nationals at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA. Opening up the US 131 Motorsports Park season will be the Toyo Tires NMRA Ford Nationals, in Martin, Michigan. As well, the NMRA Toyo Tires Ford Motorsport Nationals has also been moved up a week to the 2nd weekend in June at Maple Grove Raceway. The NMRA is also returning to Atco, Route 66, KCIR, and Beech Bend Raceway for the Nitto Tire NMRA World Finals. New for the 2005 season, the NMRA-Denso Ford Drag Racing Series will be the featured attraction at the 27th Annual Ford Expo held at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, OH over the Labor day weekend.
The NMRA has an action packed 2005 season in store, so make your travel plans now to attend each and every 2005 NMRA Denso Iridium Power Spark Plugs Ford Nationals event. These exciting additions to the 2005 NMRA Ford Nationals schedule will serve to strengthen the NMRA’s status as one of the leading heads-up drag racing series in the world. I think they will, they are working on some changes to make it more appealing. If they do not they will be out of business by next year. BTW did you know the Fun Ford people paid to have the pro cars come to their event because they only had two cars registered prior ? Maybe NMRA will do the same if they are low.
They need to.He'll,Outlaw,DR,and Renegade are fun to watch, but most people go to see the Pro cars.I was fuck'n pissed last year, then went to Orlando and they were everywhere.

Actually, the payout for Pro 5.0 in FFW is $2,500 more per event than the NMRA. There is also a new car awarded at the end of the year for the champion. They also pay an extra $1,000 to the winner of the event if he is also the #1 qualifier. However, if the #1 qualifier doesn't win, the money rolls over to the next event where it will then be $2,000 to the winner if he is #1 qualifier. I believe this past year, the pot actually got up to $5,000 or $6,000 before it was collected be Chuck Samuels.
I think the NMRA is going to have to look at their rules a little to get their Pro 5.0 car counts up. Until they make it a little more level playing field between the supercharged, nitrous, N/A and turbo cars, their car count is going to continue to suffer.
Don't get me wrong, I think both FFW and the NMRA both have their good points and bad points. I'm just glad we have 2 great Ford racing series to be a part of.

I believe the only money that they've ever paid to the Pro 5.0 cars is to who won... Don't think they've ever paid anyone to just show up and race, FFW to the best of my knowledge usually has a pretty good car draw. If I remember right they had 11 or 13 cars at the season opener?

Paying for car count is nothing new really. Back in high school (11 years ago) a friend of mine was the crew cheif on Mel Eave's Pro Mod 57 Chevy which ran Super Chevy programs. Each car got paid $3k to make the race, with no extra money paid to the winner or any other car.
LOL^
