Question Backpressure questions..

Alright well i just need some quick advice... you might think im crazy but i want to take off my mufflers and just run 2 1/2inch piping all the way to the back of my car but im worried about getting enough backpressure. Can anyone help me out with what problems that might bring up (besides legal problems.. i'll deal with that myself)

my freind did that on a basically stock 4.6.......... it sounded ok, and had just a bit of loss of torque on the low end,(he did the h pipe at the same time) but no more than a car with mufflers really......

i would do it....... it might sound good, might sound bad, but the driveability prolly wont change much......

I had a 87 LX with off road h-pipe and 2 chamber flowmasters and the car was loud but had no low end torque. I put the stock h-pipe back on and it made a world of difference. You definitely need some backpressure. I believe the car would backfire or pop if you revved it up too, and that just ain't cool. Flowmaster 2 chambers sound pretty cool and are loud, too. In that car, with the off road h-pipe, you couldn't have a conversation while the car was running. That was also with turn-downs. Good Luck!!

+1 on the 2 chambers, you'll have enough backpressure generated from them to keep most of your low end torque but not so much that you'll lose any power.
Hell, I run mufflers on my race car, I wouldn't run a street car without them. Way to redneck-ish...
