new mustang owner
You said it yourself, they hook more. Performance being the number one priority go with the M.T.'s, but you are right when talking about all round conditions. I took it from his first post that he was interested in going fast in a straight line, after reading it again I realize that was left up in the air exactly what he was looking to do. People are hitting 1.3 and 1.4 60 ft. times with these new tires. Only slicks used to give you those kind of times. Granted they are doing those times with huge tires and tons of power, but they are still doing it. I find it funny when I hear people debating over the E.T. streets vs. the new Drag Radials. People for some reason don't want to believe that the new D.R.'s are cutting such great times. It's great to be at the end of the track going over triple digit speed's and not feel that walloing feeling at the end of the run like you do with slicks or E.T. streets. Of course I'm not trying to compare these with slicks, I'm just saying for a radial tire HOLY SH-T you better hold on becasue when you heat those baby's up they hook hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i got the best advice you can take, dont buy that 01 GT. buy my 98 GT with a forged motor and PI heads + every possible bolt on imaginable. 272rwhp at 8.5:1 compression

Congratulations on seeing the light. At least you're smart enough to realize you're wasting your money going half as fast for twice as much. Run 2 1/2" exhaust, 4.10 gear, timing adjuster, underdrive pulleys, bigger throttle body and mass air meter, cold air intake, stickey tires, and shifter with positive stops, and you should be able to run high 12's on the stock motor. It will go 14.00 bone stock. You need to be able to launch it at 5 or 6 grand, dead hook, and power shift to run the numbers. Then I'd spray it and run 11's. Good luck.
