Default buildin a Svo

My neighbors brother is building a 85 SVO for his weekend warrior and was wondering what a good combo would be for a mustang that will be seeing some highway miles but will put you in the back of ur seat when u step on it. Hes was thinkin about going efi but i think hes gonna stay carbd. Hes got the money for a nicely built motor..i dont think it will be seeing much of the track, hes building it just for the v8 image and to have fun with. Bottom line he wants a torquey 302 that wont cruise the highways at 3-4 grand. Just want to know some good combos for him to go with.

Thanks

If he puts a V8 into that SVO I will personally go to his house and kick him in the nuts. It really pisses us SVO aficionados to see someone ruin such a rare car.

If he is hell bent on a V8, tell him to sell the SVO to someone who will truely appreciate the car. With that money he can pick up a nice 4-banger LX of the same vintage and still have money leftover to throw into a nicely built 302.

FYI...all SVO's were EFI.

The svo wouldn't be a problem to sell. I'm amazed anyone would ruin the car with a v-8 swap.
Hopefully he will change his mind or sell the car either way. I have no idea about this guy who posted but he doesn't know jack about svo's. If his friend is half as dumb about them maybe someone will educate him.

I'm not a fan of four cylinder mustangs at all, but I do agree about not swapping out the turbo'd four banger. They are getting harder and harder to find. I'm not gonna join Alan on the nut kicking, but I will ride along on the venture with a gas can and matches to spare the SVO of its V8-swapped dishonor.

Ah, its a freakin car. Tell him to throw a 408W in it and to hell with everyone.

Everytime I see cars in bubble wrap I want to kick THOSE people in the balls!

There are 4 kinds of car people:
1) Those that "hot rod" anything they own.

2) Those that want originality so much they are willing to drive with 4 wheel drum brakes and power nothing.

3) Those that have owned lots of cars but have never really done anything with them (but of course they have millions of stories about them)

4) Those that wish they were 1,2,or 3

Personally, if I want to see a beautiful, original example of a car I will go to a musuem.

Do you own a Torch Red FRC and tremble every time you drive under I75 on Hwy 60 and look in your rearview mirror? If so you are suffering from what is known as Cobraphobia.

+1.

SVO Mustang to me means keep the Turbo and swap in a nice forged 302 with a set of Canfields and a good blower cam. I would also swap in a M6 to. I know you guys are going to say that I am GM guy so a rare Ford means nothing to me but I would do similar things to a 63 Splitwindow Vette Coupe. Hell I already have plans to swap a an LS1 based Stroker and Z06 running gear into one as soon as I hit the lotto.
