Default I finally have a running stang again

I am finally with Stang again.

I got it back a couple of nights ago from N4S and all seems to be pretty normal. I have 300 of the 700 miles I need for the break in by next week hopefully, been driving it around a lot. Its burning a little bit of oil which is normal for the break in. Any break in tips?

It honestly feels like a completely different car. I can't wait to get it to the track and on the dyno to see what it does. It feels very strong and on street tires I have zero traction. I will be investing in some slicks and drag radials very soon.

Here is a pic of the completed engine bay - took it last night so its a little dark. My dyno tune is next Wednesday - we'll see what I get. I think it should be pretty stout once its all tuned and the suspension is setup properly.

And no - I'm not as cool as all the guys with turbos - especially the ones with carbed turbos But I will be able to keep up a lil bit.

Yep - finally got'er done. We ran into several setbacks along the way. If the tuning and all goes well on 9/22 and the break in is okay - I'll be racing it on the 26th - and we can definitely line'em up. Even if its on street tires - I'm curious to see what it does. I'll prob get some drag radials before then though....

If you ever come back to town Lance, I'll take ya for a spin....hope the Dakotas are treating you well.

Just make sure you do different rpm intervals. Don't just hit the interstate and go 70mph for an hour. Best thing to do is go down dale mabry or us 19 one or two times. -Mark

Yeah - thats what Tony said - I've been going through all RPM intervals - just not at WOT....been doing a lot of city driving and interstate stuff.

I'm trying to put on 50-100 miles per day - then will probably put on more over the weekend.

What are you trying to break in? The only part that should really require 500 miles is the clutch. As far as the engine, with the materials and techniques used widely 500-700 miles is not needed, especially on a roller cam engine.

I have read many different opinions on the subject but a lot of current builders that I have talked to say that the rings seat very quickly when moly are used.

I guess it all depends on what parts are used.......

Do you own a Torch Red FRC and tremble every time you drive under I75 on Hwy 60 and look in your rearview mirror? If so you are suffering from what is known as Cobraphobia.
