also with finding a car, call it being picky, but i wanted something local. this is so i don't have to deal with finding a ride to go get it, and not having to worry about shipping problems. so i gues that website won't be that great for me. And their cars are way too expensive for my budget.

Keep looking. One thing that you get with their cars (unless they are advertising for someone else, and they will tell you this if they are) - the cars are what they say they are. If you had to travel, you wouldnt be dissapointed. Again, keep looking, they come up with OK prices on clean cars.

To add to this the '79-'82 Mustangs didn't have the stronger floor panning the '83-'93 have. If you ended up with one of these years you better reinforce the flooring. This is the best opportunity to upgrade to through-the-floor bracing.

1986 was the year the 5.0L Mustang received the 8.8 trac-lock rear axle assembly. Remember not to call them "posi" because that is a GM term and GMs are for "girly men."

For the color matched side mouldings......yes it started in '91, but for the '92 models that they started building then. So it's actually the '92 & '93 that Ford color matched the moulding.

Early yearrs were either C4 autos or SROD 4 speeds.

Think it was 82 the 2.55 v8 was available and its a boat anchor of a motor.

85 was the first year I believe of the HO motor with forged pistons and roller cam.

86 was first year for EFI

79-86 also have 10" front brakes 87+ are 11"

87 front end designed and interior changed quite a bit. They went to e7 heads and forged pistons with valve reliefs, 60mm throttle bodys

86 were e6 heads with flat top pistons and 58mm throttle bodies

88 was first year for mass air for california cars

89 all cars were mass air

85 gt were rated at 215 or 205 hp, 86 gts were rated at 195. but had more torque due to fuel injection.

90 was first year of the air bag steering wheel

91 first year of pony rims and larger fenders to accomdate the larger 16" rims, it also got body color matched side mouldings, earlier years were black mouldings

91 they went to o ring style valve cover gaskets and a slightly different wiring harness

92 got better hatch striker bushing setup

93 got hyperautic pistons

If you just happen to come across any '79-'86 models DO NOT do the later model conversion to the nose of these cars (unless you are forced to) because these cars are becoming harder and harder to find. Many late model owner think these are hideous, but there is that crowd that appreciates these front fascias. I love the '85-'86 GT fronts.

Now, it's only my personal opinion so I'm not slamming ya on it, but don't buy one at all if you're not going to work on it yourself. Work on these cars is not cheap given their nature for performance reasons. Plus, those in the know-how crowd will very likely look at you like "you don't know jack **** about cars." I'm guilty of this outlook.

If and when you do get into building up these cars be smart and do things right the first time around. Build the car around the motor, not the motor into an unprepped car or else you'll end up fixing a lot of stuff unecessarily. Brace the car up, get the torque boxes reinforced and welded up, replace mounts, bushings, even a nice mild cage inside should help tie everything together.

dont get a mustang! lol. unless you have alot of $. im sure alot of other mustang owners here will also tell you, you can never do enough to the car. seems like pony owners are very competitive. even tho most of us all get along, theres always somethin more you want to do to give it that extra hp. you will never be satisfied unless you in the 8's.

Theres always something to do because Mustangs have more aftermarket parts made for them than any other single model vehicle. Its nice to have choices - im not complaining.

ya, mustangs have all the aftermarket parts in the world with the exception of the wheels. everyone has the same ones. thats a big complaint of mine.
