Priorities! :D
If I had the time/money I would fit a 302 in there. If they can fit one in a Focus, I can fit one in an Escort
.
It's much cheaper to go turbo and be just as fast

the stock drivetrain would be fine for now i believe , unless you try doing some crazy things like running fat slicks or dr's and launching hard ... just dont try doing any hard launches and you will be ok
what are you going to utilize for a manifold if/when you go turbo ? would be nice to see a turbo cvh around here

1.6 Manifold off an 84-85 Escort/EXP turbo, direct bolt in application. I just have to make an adapter for the clutch slave cylinder to move it clear of the gate. Already sourced one, just have to buy it. Will use the stock IHI turbo on it for now as well until my tuning is setup right. I think I'm going to opt on that route, just hope my tranny can handle it
. It seems as though the Focus people have more problems with their manual transmissions than the Escort people do, so I should be alright. The spare head will be ported and polished with the absolute largest valves I can fit in there.
The cam I'm getting out of a 91 Escort, which is the same specs as a stage 2 cam from most of the big manufacturers.

Hey, I was just wondering why you decided to try to make an Escort go fast instead of buying something that was already fast like a Mustang or something similar. I like a challenge but seems like you would spend alot more money to go fast starting with something that slow. I'm not knocking you or anything so don't get offended, I'm just curious why you guys do it. Have you had your car to the track yet? I'd deffinately go with a turbo, the torque is unreal, just what you need with the small engine. Are you planning on building a kit for your car or does someone make a kit you can buy?

No I don't want any gay ass kits. But www.andysautosport.com makes one for it which is pretty nice.
