Default Mustang GT's?

OK so I'm thinking about getting a GT and I want to know which year is the best from 87-98? I like the fox body but I want something a little newer so what's a good year to start with? Are the fox body's that much faster than the new body styles?

Stock for stock and given the same driver, the '99-ups are quickest. As far as fox bodies, I think '87-92 and just a few early '93s had forged internals, leaving almost all '93s with weaker bottom ends (if you're thinking about power adders). 94-95s have 5 liter engines but in the sleeker sn-95 body and are cheap to modify compared to 4.6s. If you're going with a 4.6 modular, might as well start with a '99 up because the heads/cams/intake are much healthier.

My main gripe with the 4.6 is that you can't add much displacement. And it costs an arm and a leg for a decent stroker.

I take it you have an LX?

sn95 5.0, excellent handling with a tight feeling ride.

My brother just bought one and I love how it drives, plus it has a 5.0 ... you can't go wrong.

get a 96 4.6L and buy a stroker kit from DSS for $2500 and you will have a built 302 ready for punishment. you can pick up a 96 GT for around 3K with high miles.

Wait 6 months for the 05's to come out and the prices on the 99+ will have dropped.

If ur gonna go with a fox body get a 89-92. or a 93 cobra. 88and below dont have Mass air. and 89-92 have forged internals. plus they are really cheap to get alot of power.

Yessir

Rods and pistons, I do believe. 200 shots are not uncommon on stock shortblocks.
