Wow a GM guy giving us a good nugget of Ford info. 
Sounds like a auto dince there was no free reving while staging nor noticable shifting sounds that a manual would make. 14.2 @ 96 sounds pretty good for a auto especially since there was no telling what stage the car was in or what they might have been testing.

the best time for a 99-04 GT(stock) that i saw was 13.80 i couldnt get anywhere close to that, i was about 1\2 sec. off of that, but i was spinning real bad

so a stock gt is capable of getting high 13's with a decent drivver? most people tell me they run low to mid 14's

Who's knows what they were testing on this '05 so to know whether or not that was all it had remains to be seen.
