Default 95 Cobra 351. Will it work?

I have a 95 Cobra 5.0 with Edelbrock heads and intake manifold, Vortech SC, BBK long tubes and i found a free 351 but I need to see if it is a Windsor or Cleavland. If it is a Windsor I am going to pick it up. I know the lower intake manifold won't fit but, will all of my other parts fit?

To my understanding everything will bolt right up. Just a higher deck height on the 351's.

The lower manifold for a 302 will not fit a 351W. 302 short headers might need some bending to work on a 351W sitting in a cramped SN95 engine bay. You might as well do it right and buy 351W specific headers of your choice for the application. You will also need a 351W specific distributor for it. The casting numbers will be in the starter area of the block. The basic part number will be 6015 for a 351W block. Any idea what year the block is? The oil pan & oil pick-up will also have to be changed.

Just remembering that the balancer from a late model 5.0L is a 50oz.. All years of 351Ws use a 28oz. balancer. These days word is that Romac is making the best balancers out there for SB Ford street motors. I found the pic of the block part number for my 1969 351W block.

The motor is in a 71 Mercury, I dont remember what model it is but, my friend that is giving me the car said that it isnt the orignal motor. If I do it then I'm gonna rebuild it with low compression pistons so it is boost friendly But tonight I looked in to what I would need to do the swap and I would have to get so much shit, it would be cheaper for me to just rebuild my 302 and stroke it to a 331.

351w 69 block will handle a considerable amount more power.. yes more is involved, but it would be worth it in the end..

My dad had a 71 cougar and it had the 351 Cleveland, not the windsor in it...FWIW.

If you want an 800hp drag only car and want to spend the extra cash - the 351 is better and will hold more power. It really depends on what your goal for the car - and how much you're willing to spend. If you're making your choice on cost, and you want a quick street car, the 331 is prob the better route.
