Radiator all gunked up inside?

Usually, the thremostats either work or they don't. If they don't you will go into meltdown mode right away if they died in the closed position. If they died in the open position, it just takes longer to get to operating temp. I would suspect the radiator needing flushed or rodded out or...if your just getting hot while sitting but not while driving down the street, check the fan clutch...or if you're a 96 Cobra, then you don't have a fan clutch so ....never mind. Back to suspecting the radiator itself.

i put an aluminum radiator in my 90 mustang and it went from being constantly 195 to no hotter than 160 ever. its great. all i did was the radiator. it still has a stock thermostat and water pump to this day.
