Angry What else could go wrong?!!?!?!

ok god damnit. The car isnt turing over at all nOW! THe crank barly putters then nothing. it started 2 days ago real strong .. i thought it fixed itself then i had to get out and close the hood..car died by the time i got back in. It hasnt started since then on about 10 trys. I got the battery tested and its good. i have a new rotor, cap, coil, wires, and plugs. the plugs are brand new but are black. i think its from all the smoke that was happening when it did turn over. I can smell the gas and the plugs come out really wet. Could it be so random that my starter has taken a shit or could it have to do with my privious problem with either the timming or whatever could be wrong ..never touched pulled the disributor or cam. I only have a few days to get this bitch running b4 school. IM open to suggestions.

thanks

Yes, check timing. Are all of the plugs wet, or just one? Do you have a fuel pressure guage on it? And yes, starters sometimes take a crap outa the blue. What was the most recent work performed on the car?

Ummmmmm, there are 2 wires that bolt onto the back of one of the heads. On my 91, it was the driver's side head. One was a braided ground strap and bolted onto the firewall and the other was a little white wire with a big diameter ring terminal on it (comes out of the harness near the EGR plug). If either or both of those ground wires are not hooked up, it can cause some problems. I broke the little white one ff on a HG change. The car ran but was throwing all sorts of codes. Something to check.

Oh, and throw a charger on your battery.

I thought of those grounds the first night i started it. i went back the next morning and made sure they where tight on the back of the head. the nut is a biatch to get to with that smog like in the way..i tightened then to the head as hard as i could. would it matter which is on first? and the battery is charging now. it tested good at discount but everytime i slap the charger on it its nearly dead.

ill go back and tighten them some more

No, the order doesn't make a difference, just that it has a good connection. The little white one is a funny little bastard. First time I blew a HG, I brok the terminal off when I pulled the head (didn't know it was hiding behind there) and didn't realize it. I saw the white wire lying there but just thought it was an unused wire...lots of those things around. So I just stuffed it behind the intake and didn't worry about it. No problems until a year or so later when I blew another HG. Did the fix and stuffed the white wire behind the intake and then had all sorts of problems. Finally tracked it to that wire. Apparently the first time I stuffed it behind the intake, it managed to ground itself against something and worked flawlessly for a year just lying there. Go figure.

Because your car didnt create enough G-forces to move the wire around....

That would be my current project, Jeff. It won't even spin the tires.

check the inline pin relay thing between the battery and the solenoid.

when i took my battery out to put in new terminal wires, it got disconnected when i put the battery back in. got no spark whatsoever.

its a whiteish clear inline pin relay that looks like a syringe or needle
