I'm looking at swapping a new mach1 engine into a fox-body ( 89' ).

I have a few questions that I figured some of you may know. If you don't know, I was hoping someone could refer me to someone or some place that could give me more info on doing it.

The engine comes with harness/ecu/hood/and the 320 mile engine of course.

The major questions being:
#1 is the motor mounts going to be a SOB ?
#2 is the wiring going to be like totally totally different ?
#3 is the quad cam aluminum block ? ( I know the new cobra is iron ).

A new Kmember is on the list for the swap, I wonder if I can have someone build a K-member that will bolt straight to the Fox-body frame, and straight to the quad cam mounts ?

Looking into either a tremic or T-56 ( via LT-1 F-body ) for a tranny and prob. get a rear end from a turbo coupe ( the car is a perfect condition 4-banger ).
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Hoping for 12sec times on street tires N/A and low 11's with a procharger and slicks.

1. Griggs Racing and AJE both make K-member just for the swap with the proper motor mounts, so it will bolt right in.
2. You can use the stock Cobra computer for the swap or use an aftermarket stand alone like a FAST, SDS, AEM etc etc etc. Using the stock computer is going to involve some cutting and pasting, but it can be done. Biggest problem is getting rid of the Passive Anti Theft System(PATS) from the stock computer. But it can be deleted with an aftermarket chip.
3. 96-01 Cobras came with aluminum blocks and so did the 03 Mach1/Aviator.Marauder. The older Lincoln Mark VIII's also came with aluminum blocks.

As far as the tranny, if you're looking for a 6 speed, just get one out of an 03 Cobra, bolts right up. If you're going to go blown, for the love of God stay away from Pro Charger.

 

 

i would definetley give race related a call...... they did a 2001 lightning motor swap on my GT 2 years ago and to this day not one problem with it... i highly recomend them.

I'll definatly give race related a call ( just wondering how fourth coming they are going to be about telling me what needs to be done, b/c as much as "race related" like doing cool shit like this, I enjoy a challenge too ).

I've crossed pathes with the "pats" before on my focus, it is a PITA. focus = remote start.

The stock mach1 ECU comes with it, so using it is going to be the first option.

Glad the K-member can be bought to prefit the engine ( lots of tech stuff goes into getting it to sit at the perfect angle etc. ).

Custum K-member, brakes, fuel rails, chip, and prob. lots of cursing is required.

Kinda hope I get to do the car, but if not race related with be getting to do it ( I already have my project civic and TT steath, SR20 swap that needs a harness, and a wife with a fuse that is getting short ). 5 cars total in my yard. Adding a mustang to the mix wouldn't make anyone happy, but me.
