Default Shifter rattling ...

Well, it started probably 5-6 months ago, it was faint and bareable. More recently, the rattling is starting to get very aggravating and it gets louder with speed. It only makes the noise while maintaining a constant speed. Durring decel and accel the noise doesn't exist, unless at wot. When I try and hold the shifter steady with my hand the noise still continues.

Any ideas on what this could be and how I can fix it?

Pro 5.0 and almost every other shifter on the market rattle like that. They usually do it more under load though.

The cure to your problem is a built AOD.

Just kidding man...

I'd check the u joints also....

If your d/s is a problem - I have one sitting in my garage from a 95 GT automatic (not sure if it'll work for you) that you can have...Its in fine condition...besides all the spider webs on it from sitting for a couple years.

My car is slowly turning into a 95gt,

I'll check the driveshaft tomorrow. If something is wrong with the driveshaft itself I'll just pick up an aluminum one since I have the money, thanks for the offer though

I was aware that all aftermarket shifters rattle, but this seems abnormal. There is a lot of vibration in the car under wot as well. I'm sure it's either the u joints or the driveshaft itself.

i dont know what kind of transmission you have, but i have a tremec 3550 and it makes a good amount of noise, especially in 3rd gear. when i bought the transmission, i was told it was going to make noise, and every car i have been in has made the same noises. tremecs are known for it. but its not that loud, so it probably isnt that.

but check out the u joints, that would be your best bet, like its been said already
